About Us
What's Behind The Funny Name?
Fishrubbers was started by 2 avid dry fly fishermen. We saw a few guides using basic rubber bands on the river and set out to find a better way to accomplish the same outcome. All Fishrubbers are made with indestructible rubber and come on an easy to attach clip that will attach to any vest, creel or fishing pouch. We believe this is a handy tool that any dry-fly fisherman will love using. We have fished all kinds of rivers and have tested this on all size flies. Everything from the softest hackle to the most ridiculous Chernobyl dry off perfectly with just a few flicks of the band. Watch how its done...and fall in love with keeping your fly up!

Favorite quote from a River Runs Through It...
“He told us about Christ's disciples being fishermen, and we were left to assume, as my brother and I did, that all first-class fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fishermen and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman.”
CRS (Chief Rubber Stretcher) Scott Nielsen
Scott has been fishing for most of his lifetime. Known to his friends as the fish whisperer, Scott has a keen eye for trout and where they hide out on the rivers of the west. A native of Illinois, but an adopted Son of Colorado, Scott is most at home on any cool water running from the mountains.
Go to rod choice: Moonshine Vesper 5wt. 9ft. Rod is a workhorse and super versatile!
Sentimental rod fave: G Loomis GL3 4wt. 7’ 6”– it’s the first rod I purchased. I scrounged up enough money to buy it and has a soft-spot in my heart. I have it stashed away and hope to one day pass on to my kids.
Favorite fly: Purple Chubby Chernobyl. What’s not to love about seeing a trout slam one of these candybars!
Fave river: This is a hard one since I love so many rivers for many different reasons. But, if I had to just pick one it would be Bighorn River in Montana. Such a classic river that’s super moody and can be extremely rewarding or leave you with your tail between your legs. I’ll cheat and add a second…The Taylor River in Colorado. If you haven’t fished this one, then you’re really missing out!
Home water: The Tongue River in Wyoming. A good friend introduced the Tongue to me and a group of friends over 20 years ago. It’s the river I started out fly fishing on when my mind drifts off to thoughts of fishing, the Tongue is the setting. It’s a classic trout stream with so many different personalities and sections to fish.
Favorite quote from A River Runs Through It:
“One of life's quiet excitements is to stand somewhat apart from yourself and watch yourself softly becoming the author of something beautiful even if it is only a floating ash.”
